Avocets - Two Tree Island, Essex 16th April 2011 & 13th May 2012 (below)
Early morning is a good time to get perfectly lit and reflective images of Avocets in spring

Little Stint, Titchwell, Norfolk - 6th October 2007
A confiding group of stints were close to the footpath at the reserve.

Turnstone, Porth Killier Beach, St. Agnes, Isles of Scilly May 2010
In summer plumage this engaging species is truly stunning.

Turnstone, Southend Pier, Essex 19th January 2014
A regular and fairly large roost of Turnstones can be found at the pier head over high tide during the winter with numerous birds being extremely confiding

Curlew, Fair Isle, September 2014
Fine opportunity to photograph a Curlew in flight in great light, this bird flew past Quoy of Fair Isle
Oystercatcher - Buness October 2015
Birding a place like Fair Isle it is often easy to forget about the commoner species. This Oystercatcher was present for some weeks either outside the Obs or on Buness so with nice light I decided to add it to me list of photographed birds, I've not previously had any really acceptable Oystercatcher images

Turnstone, South Haven, Fair Isle - May 2016
Whilst Essex gets large winter gatherings of Turnstone, especially at Southend Pier, we don't often get close up views of summer/breeding plumaged birds such as those photographed in late May on Fair Isle. Real stunners.

Wood Sandpiper, Da Water, Fair Isle - May 2016
Whilst the Southend area of South Essex often get plenty of waders there's no where we can get really close to them so places like Fair Isle offer sometime outstanding opportunities for some species. This Wood Sandpiper was totally unconcerned by my presence and performed very well indeed.
Oystercatcher - Skadan, Fair Isle - May 2016
Far more Oystercatchers around in the spring than in autumn on the island

Whimbrel, Hoini, Fair Isle - May 2016
Seemed a bit out of place seeing migrant Whimbrel out on cliff tops on the western side of Fair Isle. Bit of a heat haze prevented sharp images
Black-tailed Godwits, Meoness and South Harbour, Fair Isle - May 2016
A couple of stunning summer plumaged Blackwits lingered around the south of the island for a few days and often showed well in the seaweed at low tide in south harbour.
Bar-tailed Godwit - River Roach, Essex 26th December 2016
This in-flight image clear demonstrates, when compared with the Black-tailed Godwits above the plumage characteristics: uniform wing (nor wing bar) and 'barred-tailed'.

A late passage bird for the island, wasn't overly confiding so mostly heavy cropped images
Oystercatcher - Buness, Fair Isle - May 2017
Several fly by Oicks at Buness presented a good in-flight photo op.
