Smew has now become a fairly rare bird locally hence why it is included in the local rarities pages. This fine drake as well 6 Redheads, including an immature drake, were present during harsh weather and I got frozen to the bone waiting for the bird to come close enough to get these shots. The day was overcast and low light and the whole lagoon was simply grey and white, not the perfect conditions for photographing a black, grey and white bird. Still results are just about okay.
