Mirror my spring trip to Fair Isle back in May the autumn produced two Red-throated Pipits. The first was up in the north of the island around Easter Lother where extremely windy conditions, drizzle and low light meant getting even record shots of it challenging with the couple here being the best of a sorry bunch of images.

The second bird was the thistle patch at Shirva where it was generally elusive but once into it's stay became a little easier to find, with patience and careful searching of the thistles. However it was still extremely difficult to get any decent shots of and those here are amongst the best of another pitiful bunch of shots.
