Red-billed Gull - Larus novaehollandiae
The common gull of New Zealand and Australia where often encountered in large numbers on the coast, less commonly found inland. In Australia it is known as Silver Gull.
The above individual was photographed along Cairn's Esplanade, Queensland, Australia in November 2008.
Although common in New Zealand I only spent time photographing Red-billed Gulls in the car park at Otago Peninsula on South Island during my trip there in November 2006.
