New Zealand. Great place but with few bird species but the ones there are special. My main intention was to see the albatrosses, factoring in many pelagics as possible and get the Kiwis. Most of this worked but we had some inclement weather whilst we were there so not all of what I wanted to see was seen. However we had quality birding with stunning scenery. Seven pelagics and a Whale Watching trip were made out of Kaikoura and with so many seabirds just feet away one of my all time favourite and most memorable birding experiences, ever. The weather was generally quite rough during our trip which resulted in not getting to Stewart Island thus not getting to Mason Beach for the Kiwi. The weather also meant that a couple of other endemics were missed, New Zealand Falcon and all the Kiwi's on south island whilst it also hindered our chances of doing more scenic flights though perseverance eventually paid off at Mt. Cook.
